There is a six game Premier League slate taking place on Saturday, with the early kick off taking place at 12.30 at Anfield, between Liverpool and Chelsea. We’ve previewed the game and provided you with our suggested best bets for the occasion.
Liverpool vs Chelsea Tips
- Liverpool to win and both teams to score – 23/10
- Darwin Nunez and Mykhailo Mudryk both to score – 17/2
If I had told you at the start of the season that this fixture would have been before the teams positioned 9th and 10th in the Premier League, you would probably have had me carted off.
Both teams will have had harboured ambitions of a serious Premier League title charge this year but both have faltered at an early stage.
The Reds (5/6) had a terrible time of things at the start of the season, suffering from a quadruple chasing hangover and the loss of Sadio Mane to Bayern Munich.
Recently, Jürgen Klopp and co looked to have turned round their fortunes, winning four straight, yet recent heavy defeats against Brentford and Brighton have shown their weaknesses are still present.
Chelsea (16/5) sacked Thomas Tuchel back in early September and quickly moved to appoint Graham Potter. The ex-Brighton man looked to have settled in nicely and was unbeaten in his first five games.
Since then though, the Blues have fallen off a cliff, are out of both domestic cups and have picked up just seven points from the last 24.
Questions have started being asked about the 47-year-old’s future at Stamford Bridge and surely it’s only a matter of time before Todd Boehly gets an itchy trigger finger if he is unable to turn it around in West London.
Team news:
Both sides are still struggling with long injury lists.
Klopp is without Virgil van Dijk, Diogo Jota, Arthur and Luis Diaz, whilst Roberto Firmino and Konstantinos Tsimikas remain doubts. Darwin Nunez should be fit to feature here, however.
Potter is without as many as ten squad members and will also be missing new loan signing Joao Felix, who was shown a red card in his first game for the club. Mykhailo Mudryk is in full training, so could be an option for a first start here.
Liverpool to win and both teams to score – 23/10
Liverpool snapped a three game winless streak, with a Harvey Elliott goal at Wolves and I think they can win again here, in front of their own fans.
The Reds defeated The Blues in two cup finals last year and seem to have a psychological edge over them.
Liverpool’s recent defensive problems will mean they probably have to score at least twice to get the win, however.
Darwin Nunez and Mykhailo Mudryk both to score – 17/2
My second selection is a longer shot with both Nunez and Mudryk to score.
Nunez scored in the first FA Cup tie against Wolverhampton and whilst he hasn’t been prolific this season, he has never shied from pulling the trigger.
The 23-year old leads the club for shots (4.2) and shots on target (1.8) per games and I think it’s only a matter of time before he goes on a big scoring streak.
Mudryk was snatched from under Arsenal’s nose and looks a superb signing for Chelsea.
The 22-year-old scored 10 goals in 18 games for his club side Shahktar Donetsk and cleaerly has an eye for goal.
