The latest instalment of the North London derby headlines Sunday’s Premier League action as Tottenham Hotspur entertain local rivals and league leaders Arsenal. We’ve previewed the game and picked out our two best bets.

Spurs vs Arsenal Tips

  • Arsenal to win and both teams to score @ 11/4
  • Over 3.5 Total Goals @ 7/4

There’s nothing more Spurs (9/4) and their fans would want to do here than to derail their North London neighbours’ title bid.

Antonio Conte’s men have their sights firmly on Champions League qualification this season, and they currently sit fifth, two points behind fourth-placed Manchester United having played a game more.

They made harder work of their FA Cup win over League One side Portsmouth than they did in their Premier League thumping of Crystal Palace.

However,  three of their last four Premier League contests at home ending in defeat for Spurs, during which time they have shipped at least two goals per game.

Arsenal (23/20) put Oxford United to the sword last time out in their FA Cup tie, courtesy of goals from Mohamed Elneny and Eddie Nketiah (2).

With Manchester United in the league and Man City to come before the end of the month, January looks to be a critical month in terms of Arsenal’s title credentials, and they’ll want to start off on the right note here.

That won’t be easy, however – Thomas Partey, Gabriel Jesus and Granit Xhaka all made the net ripple in Arsenal’s triumph over Spurs at the Emirates in October, but Tottenham have won all three North London derbies at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Team News

Dejan Kulusevski back in training for the hosts after a muscular problem, while this game is expected to come too soon for Richarlison and Lucas Moura.

Gabriel Jesus and Reiss Nelson remain on the sidelines for the visitors, however Emile Smith Rowe returned from groin surgery against Oxford in the FA Cup so he could play a part this weekend.

Latest Spurs vs Arsenal Betfred Odds

Arsenal to win and both teams to score @ 11/4

As I’ve mentioned above, Spurs have won all three North London derbies at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, but this seems to be a different Arsenal side this season, as proven by how they have performed over the first part of the Premier League campaign.

I can certainly see both teams scoring in this one, as both teams have scored in three of the last four meetings between these sides.

Arsenal have struggled to score on enemy territory in the Premier League, finding the back of the net just twice in their last six visits, but I see that barren run ending here.

The reason I edge this game to Arsenal is down to the form that they’re in.

Over 3.5 Total Goals @ 7/4

Four of Spurs’ last six Premier League games have seen four goals or more scored, so that makes me think there will be goals this Sunday.

In addition, two of Arsenal’s last four games have seen over 3.5 goals scored.

Seven of the last nine meetings between these sides have also gone over 2.5 goals, so this derby usually supplies goals.
