Hawkins vs Trump Over 9 frames – 6/5
The afternoon session features a great looking tie between Barry Hawkins (13/8) and Judd Trump (1/2), for a potential place in the semi-finals.
Hawkins was in supreme form in his last 16 match, demolishing the much fancied (including by me) Mark Allen, 6-0. ‘The Hawk’ never really gave the Northern Irishman the chance to get out of his chair, barely missing a shot.
Trump meanwhile had to drag himself back from 5-3 down to get past Welshman Ryan Day in the first round. The 33-year-old doesn’t look at his best but still showed flashes of class when winning the last three frames.
One look at the head-to-head between these two shows this is far from the 1/2 shot on offer on Trump. In 27 matches ‘The Juddernator’ is just one win in front at 14-13, with frames won split at 92 apiece.
With all that in mind, the 6/5 on over nine frames looks a solid bet.
Stuart Bingham to win – 11/10
We have an equally intriguing match up in the evening session with Shaun Murphy (8/11) taking on Stuart Bingham (11/10).
Murphy has had a long wait between games, after beating the #1 seed, Neil Robertson, 6-4 in the opening match of the tournament.
Now he faces an inspired looking Stuart Bingham, who went 5-0 up against Kyren Wilson, before eventually overcoming him 6-3.
The 46-year-old looked back to his best break-building form, with three centuries in the opening five frames and will provide a real test here for Murphy.
‘The Magician’ has had the better of the head-to-heads in recent times but the frames won is extremely close and I fancy the 2020 Masters champion, Bingham to get over the line here.
The two bets can be combined for around a 7/2 double.
