The Masters continues on Wednesday with two more first-round matches at Alexandra Palace and we preview both games with a tip for each clash.
Judd Trump is the big 3/10 favourite to beat Ryan Day in the afternoon session but may not have it all his own way to say the least, while Kyren Wilson takes on Stuart Bingham in what could be another tight game later on.
The Masters Day Four Betting Tips
Ryan Day +2.5 handicap @ 8/11
Trump will be expected to advance into the next round by many and his odds of 3/10 to see off Day underline the number four seed’s supposed superiority over his Welsh opponent, who is seeded 15th for the tournament.
However, The Juddernaut has yet to win a title this season, coming closest in the defence of his Champion of Champions crown when he finished runner-up to Ronnie O’Sullivan in Bolton in November and has not looked at his brilliant best.
Trump won The Masters in 2019 and was a semi-finalist 12 months ago but this is a tricky first test against a dangerous Day, who won the British Open earlier in the campaign when he impressively overcame Mark Allen in the final in Milton Keynes.
Day has not taken part in the Masters for the past three years but he has made the quarter-finals on three occasions in 2010, 2018 and 2019, and he may well be worth backing with a +2.5 handicap on Wednesday.
Kyren Wilson to win @ 1/2 and to win 6-4 @ 5/1
This should be a closely-fought first-round tie when Englishmen Wilson and Stuart Bingham square off again.
Wilson has been a Masters quarter-finalist for the past three years and 12 months ago edged out Bingham at this stage 6-5 before losing to Trump 6-1 in the last eight.
Wilson won the European Masters in August, beating Barry Hawkins in the final in what was his first title since success in the Championship League in 2021 and he has an 11-7 lead in the head-to-head record when taking on Bingham.
Bingham has had a disappointing campaign to date, with his best performance being a third-round exit in the Championship League and he currently looks way short of the form he showed when winning The Masters in 2020.
Wilson appears to be in better shape and should edge it, with 6-4 in the correct score market offering a bit more value at 5/1 than his 1/2 price for overall victory.
