ASB Classic 2023 Betting Tips:
Back Cam Norrie to win at 7/2
Back Josh Isner to win at 10/1
Top seed Casper Ruud finished his 2022 campaign by winning the ATP Tour Finals. The 24 year-old has been in scintillating form in recent months and is currently ranked as the third best player in the world according to the latest rankings. It comes as no surprise that the Norwegian is the 10/3 favourite but despite being the top seed, he hasn’t been granted a favourable draw.
It is likely that he’d have to face former Auckland champions John Isner and Ugo Humbert if he was to make it through to the final. The Frenchman has seen his ranking collapse in the past couple of years but his very recent form seems to be improving and he shouldn’t be ruled out when looking at the top half of the draw.
In the bottom half it is Brit Cam Norrie who is the favourite to emerge and is priced at 7/2 to win the whole thing. Currently ranked at 13 in the world, he is 3-0 so far in 2023 having played in the United Cup and one of his victories came against Rafa Nadal.
Diego Schwartzman is going to be his biggest competition along with Jenson Brooksby but they would have to face each other before a potential match with Norrie. Based on his potential route to the final, you have to fancy his chances of going all the way.
Norrie would be my top pick to win the tournament based on his form and his very favourable draw. Ruud is too short considering his potential foe and John Isner at 10/1 would be a much better value play from that half.
