Hunt for the next James Bond hots up
Lucien Laviscount is set to trade-in the cobbles of Burnley and Coronation Street to mark 2023 by landing the most famous acting job in the world – as the new James Bond.
The 30-year-old charmer from Emily in Paris hails from the Lancashire town famous for mill engines, and the one-time Burnley Loom which transformed the cotton industry.
Betfred have Laviscount, who once played the swimming team captain at Weatherfield High in Coronation Street, as the big mover for the much-coveted 007 job that’s surely going to be announced sooner rather than later this new year.
He’s shot in at 12/1 from 100/1 at Betfred after some big bets in and around Lancashire, following reports he’s on the radar of franchise boss Barbara Broccoli who is actively hunting down a replacement for Daniel Craig.

But it is Laviscount that’s making all the running according to Betfred spokesman Peter Spencer who said: “A Bond from Burnley, with love. Why not? He’s a handsome enough fella who used to be a child model – and his working class credentials will do him no harm at all.
There could be something in the water, for it’s a little-known fact that it was Burnley where acting royalty Ian McKellen, recently of Lords of the Rings fame amongst many other top roles, was born.”
