Ryan Searle to beat Jose de Sousa 4-3 @ 4/1

Kicking off the afternoon is number 16 versus 17 in the world with ‘Heavy Metal’ facing ‘The Special One’.

Both players have perhaps had underwhelming years considering their talent, but the pair have the potential to explode into life at Ally Pally and are demons in terms of 180s and could easily average over a ton.

However, Searle has an ace up his sleeve in terms of finishing – no player in the world is currently better at tops that the 35-year-old and he will be relying upon that to try and win.

De Sousa has actually won the last three meetings between them but was fairly fortunate to beat Simon Whitlock last time while Searle was comfortable against Adam Gawlas and should advance.

Chris Dobey to beat Gary Anderson @ 20/21

Gary Anderson is a two-time world champion but there is a distinct feeling that his career is on the decline after a very average year all things considered.

He had an awful Premier League campaign and in terms of TV events, his best showing this year was getting to round four of the UK Open.

He played well against Madars Razma but Chris Dobey is a player on the up and will be a tough opponent.

‘Hollywood’ has recently reached the Grand Prix quarter-finals and semi-finals of the European Championship with his more methodical style of play serving him well.

In terms of previous meetings, Anderson has won each of the last three but Dobey’s TV record has been good this year and he might just prove to be too strong for the ‘Flying Scotsman’ on the day.

Joe Cullen to beat Damon Heta 4-2 @ 4/1

Cullen has enjoyed a proper breakthrough year on the PDC circuit by winning his first TV title via the Masters.

That earned him a spot in the Premier League and he was one dart away from debut glory but Michael van Gerwen swept up to win.

Cullen is a dangerous draw and he faces Australian Damon Heta in what could be a fairly tight contest.

Heta has been arguably the standout player on the floor this year – he was number-one seed for the Players Championship Finals at Minehead after a brilliantly consistent 2022.

However, his TV form has been dreadful, going out in the first round of every tournament since reaching the UK Open quarter-finals.

Heta was annihilated by Cullen in the Matchplay first round and the ‘Rockstar’ has won five of their last seven meetings.
