Two of America’s most fabled NFL franchises clash at AT&T Stadium
Philadelphia Eagles @ Dallas Cowboys, Sat 9.25pm UK
The NFC East’s top two clash in Arlington – a real Xmas Eve treat. The Eagles have had a magnificent regular season, standing at 13-and-1. The Cowboys haven’t been too shabby either (10-and-4), and both have their admirers in the Super Bowl betting (Eagles 4/1, Cowboys 10s).
The big news is that QB star Jalen Hurts is out for the Eagles, and Minshew starts. The betting is as follows; Cowboys 4/9, Eagles 9/5, and the game total is pitched at 47.5. On the spread it’s Cowboys -4.5 @ 20/21, Eagles + 4.5 @ 20/23.
So – it’s the 13-and-1 superstars of season 2022 who are the ‘dogs’ in Texas on Saturday. Huge factor in that of course is the absence of Hurts. Both teams are top ten-ranked for both offense and defense, but Philly unsurprisingly shade it on both counts.
Whatever the brutality of the weather, AT&T’s roof should ensure great playing conditions, and it will surely be a great festive occasion. I can’t help feeling Dallas will have slightly greater motivation for this one, with both having qualified for postseason.
Putting on a show for the home faithful, owner Jerry Jones and everyone watching ‘America’s team’ will for me therefore be a priority. The chance to give a bloody nose to their top-performing Divisional rival, who are without their starting QB, is a heaven-sent opportunity I expect them to grasp with both hands.
Selections – over 47.5 total points @ Evens. Dallas -4.5 @ 20/21. Anytime touchdown scorer AJ Brown (Eagles) @ 6/4.
Merry Xmas!
