Last year’s finalists the Sydney Sixers will be hoping to get back to winning ways when they face the Hobart Hurricanes in their latest Big Bash League contest at Sydney Cricket Ground.

The Sixers have begun the season with two losses from two, first of all going down against the Adelaide Strikers by 51 runs before being beaten by the Perth Scorchers in a repeat of last year’s final.

They are already playing catch up and are preparing to face a Hurricanes team who have won one and lost one so far.

Melbourne Stars grabbed a 38-run victory over Hobart before the Hurricanes overcame the Scorchers by just six runs to kickstart their campaign.

Team news

The Sixers may look to make changes to their XI following two disappointing defeats with a decision to make particularly in their batting attack.

Coach Greg Shipperd may decide to reunite Josh Philippe and James Vince as the openers, meaning new signing Kurtis Patterson could make way after scoring only 12 runs so far.

For the Hurricanes, Wil Parker has replaced Billy Stanlake in their 14-man squad but otherwise, changes could be kept to a minimum.

Chris Tremain is waiting to make his debut after joining at the start of November.

Sydney Sixers to win @ 6/5

This season has so far been unsuccessful for the Sixers but they can at least rely on the fact they have a solid record in this competition.

Sydney are three-time winners of the Big Bash and reached last year’s final before being narrowly beaten by the Perth Scorchers.

Their success has been built on a very strong batting record, particularly at home, but so far it is their bowling attack that has impressed the most with Sean Abbott taking four wickets from two matches.

The Sixers have lost five of their last six BBL matches and the Hurricanes may be feeling confident of victory. However, Sydney’s squad is still stacked with talent and they may have too much for the Hurricanes.

James Vince to hit a 4 and a 6 #PickYourPunt @ 13/10

Vince’s campaign has not been a success so far, with the England batter managing a total of only nine runs thus far, but he is usually one of the most reliable batters in limited-overs cricket and will be eager to get a big score.

The 31-year-old has struck 32 sixes in his BBL career and is too talented a player not to start firing at some point.
