Perth Scorchers will be aiming to make it two wins from two in the Big Bash League on Monday when they take on Hobart Hurricanes in Tasmania.

The defending champions got off to the perfect start when they saw off Sydney Sixers by 38 runs on Saturday and next up they face a Hobart outfit who were comfortably beaten by Melbourne Stars in their first match of the new campaign.

Team news

Following their convincing win over the Sixers, Perth seem likely to go with the same XI against Hobart, with overseas duo Faf du Plessis and Adam Lyth hoping to post better scores than the 14 and four they managed at the Optus Stadium.

All-rounder Aaron Hardie caught the eye with his maiden BBL half-century against the Sixers and will be looking to build on that batting display, while Jhye Richardson will also want to play a key part again after he took four wickets in the opener.

After a disappointing first-game defeat to Melbourne Stars, there could be changes to the Hobart side with Billy Stanlake and Chris Tremain amongst those in line to come in and make their debuts.

Perth Scorchers to win @ EVS

Despite their 38-run defeat to Melbourne Stars, and Perth making a winning start in contrast, Hobart are the 4/5 favourites to come out on top at the University of Tasmania Stadium in Launceston.

However, the EVS on offer for another Perth success look very tempting following a brilliant bowling display from Richardson against the Sixers, who was ably backed up by Andrew Tye and Jason Behrendorff.

Richardson finished with stunning figures of 4-9, while Tye and Behrendorff took two wickets apiece and that fearsome attack will look to get at a Hurricanes battling line-up that could only manage 145/9 in their first outing.

Perth won both games against Hobart last season as they racked up 11 victories from their 14 matches to finish top of the regular table before the play-offs and they will be confident of getting their second win on the board from as many games this time around.

While Richardson rightly grabbed the headlines for his efforts with the ball against the Sixers, Tye played his part in the win too, taking the wickets of James Vince and Naveen-ul-Haq.

Australia international Tye was Perth’s leading wicket-taker in the BBL last term, with a joint-second-highest league tally of 25, and he appears to represent decent value at 16/5 to be the main man for his side with the ball on Monday.
