Croatia and Morocco have to try raise themselves from their heart breaking semi final disappointment and go again on Saturday. Both these teams will be at an absolute low after losing their semi finals and neither will want to really be involved in this game.
One of the reasons for their respective departures was a lack of finishing prowess and a top goal scoring talent.
Croatia have scored just a goal a game on average and that was heavily skewed by four against Canada. Their top scorer is Andrej Kramaric who probably won’t make the starting XI here.
Morocco, meanwhile, reached the last four on account of their defense. Before Theo Hernandez scored in the semi final, Walid Regragui’s men had only conceded once and that was an own goal.
The Atlas Lions had their own finishing issues, scoring just five times in six appearances, with Youssef En-Nesyri bagging twice.
The two played out a 0-0 draw in the group stages and I can see a similar low scoring affair here.
Under 8.5 corners
Again I can’t see either side bombing forward and creating multiple crossing chances, resulting in corners.
Croatia’s games have averaged a combined 7.16 corners per game, with the group game against Morocco netting just five corners.
Morocco games average 8.16 but that has usually been heavily skewed in favour of the team they are playing. The game against Spain for instance was 0-9.
Mateo Kovacic to be carded
Croatia and Chelsea midfielder Kovacic has had a terrific tournament, alongside Brozovic and Modric but has had a bit of an issue with discipline.
The 28-year-old has picked up two yellows thus far along with two more in the Premier League, so don’t be surprised if you see him pick up another caution.
