Who’s the favourite?

Dubois is a massive 1/16 odds-on favourite to win this one, with Lerena out at 7/1. The draw is as big as 33/1.

What’s been said?

Dubois:

When asked: “We’ve got to look at your opponent as well. He seems to mean business. I mean, you’re taking this ultra serious, I suppose.”

“100%. So he wants to rep. He wants to be world champion as well. So we can’t overlook anyone like that.

It’s going to be an excellent fight and I’m ready to go out there and destroy him. And, you know, you know, do my business.”

Lerena:

” It’s a momentous occasion for me, the biggest stage I’ve ever been on, and I’m just grateful to be here.

But obviously, you’ve got to block out all the noise, shut out the noise and focus on Daniel Dubois across from you on Saturday Night.

I’ve never doubted his power. I’ve said he’s an extremely strong fighter. He’s big, he’s strong, he’s tall.

However, a strong man is only strong when he sets his feet. You’re going to be elusive. You’ve got to be explosive.”

Daniel Dubois to win by KO/TKO/DQ/Technical Decision – 1/5

I’ve watched a fair amount of Kevin Lerena as research for this article and he’s quite impressed me.

After rising up to the number 5 rated Cruiser in the world and winning and holding the lesser known IBO Title for the best part of three years, the South African has taken the jump into the big leagues of the heavy weight division.

The 30-year-old also revealed this week that he’s been drafted in to spar with Tyson Fury in preparation for the impending Oleksandr Usyk fight, displaying just how highly the Gypsy King rates him.

I genuinely think while the fight lasts, Lerena will make Dubois look awful. He is slippery, has quick hands and good footwork, as shown in recent wins over heavies Bogdan Dinu and Marius Wach.

However, that all said, this is a huge step up in levels and Dubois carries serious power. The first time that right hand lands properly, Lerena is hitting the deck.

Daniel Dubois to win in round 4-6 – 13/8

With that in mind, I’m expecting Dynamite Dubois to lose a few early rounds and then take out Lerena in the middle rounds of the fight. I’m edging my bets on rounds 4-6 for my main bet.

Daniel Dubois to win in round 6 – 8/1

For a longer odds shot and a bit of a fun punt, I’m taking the 8/1 on offer on DDD to take him out clean in round 6.

Enjoy the fight…
