Japan were equally as bad against Costa Rica as they were impressive against Germany. For all their energetic pressing and endeavour, they simply never looked like scoring.

Alvaro Morata to score anytime

Wataru Endo to be carded
Stuttgart midfielder Endo is the shield for Japan’s defence and is a decent holding midfielder. The 29-year-old can look a little slow and laboured at times though and is prone to a late challenge.
Endo picked up a similar caution late against Costa Rica, in their 1-0 loss.
