Group B took an interesting turn on Friday as table toppers England were held to a goalless draw by the USA, whilst Wales suffered a late 2-0 loss to Iran. Now, the Welsh must beat England by four goals and hope for help in the other game to progress.

We’ve analysed the likely line-ups and picked out our suggested #PickYourPunt bet-builder which pays 60/1. If your bet doesn’t win, you will receive your stake back, as a free bet, up to £10 (see full T&C’s below).

Both teams to score – No

England were extremely disappointing in their second group game and simply couldn’t break the USMNT down. However, they still sit top of the group and only need to avoid a four goal defeat against Wales to progress.

Gareth Southgate took a fair amount of criticism for his cautious approach, which was perhaps best summed up when he put Jordan Henderson on as a second half sub instead of The Three Lions most creative player, Phil Foden.

The England boss isn’t expected to make a huge amount of changes here but the likes of Foden, Marcus Rashford and Jack Grealish could feature from the start here.

England have won their last six games against the Dragons, five of them to nil and I think that BTTS – No is a good shout here. Robert Page’s men didn’t really created anything of note against Iran and the 2-0 score line actually flattered them.

Phil Foden to score anytime

As mentioned earlier, it looks likely that Southgate will bow to pressure and start the Man City star from the start in Al-Rayyan.

It seems bizarre that someone who has been so good for the best team in the Premier League for the last couple of years, has played such a bit part so far at Qatar 2022.

The 22-year-old has 10 goal involvements in 11 Premier League starts this season and has certainly improved his eye for goal, memorably bagging a hat trick against city rivals, United.

I can see him eager to prove a point here and hopefully he can nab another goal here.

Chris Mepham to be carded

I think it’s highly likely that this game could end up with a fair few bookings, especially if the Welsh get desperate/frustrated later on.

Right centre back Mepham will probably line up directly against Foden and could have a tricky time of things against the diminutive forward.

The Bournemouth man picked up a yellow against the US and has five Premier League cards already this season.

Joe Allen to be carded

Swansea midfielder Allen was subbed on against Iran, as he continues his recovery from injury. It looks a good possibility he will begin this one in the starting line up.

The combative midfielder will be up against the likes of Rice, Bellingham and Mount in the middle and is fond of a card.

In three seasons at Stoke, the 32-year-old picked up 25 cautions.

The four bets pay 60/1 using Betfred’s #PickYourPunt feature.
