Cameroon and Serbia are both looking to get their first points on the board at the 2022 World Cup when they clash in Group G on Monday.

The Indomitable Lions haven’t made it out of the group stage in any of their last five World Cup campaigns and, having lost 1-0 to Switzerland in their opening game, it could be six in a row.

Serbia are likely to show more attacking intent in this clash after they employed a defence-first approach when trying to overcome Brazil in their opener, which ultimately backfired as they fell to a 2-0 loss.

Team news

Cameroon head coach Rigobert Song doesn’t have any new injury concerns to contend with but midfielder Olivier Ntcham remains unavailable for the rest of the group stage.

There is a big call to be made in the forward line as Song ponders whether to replace Bayern Munich’s Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting with Al Nassr frontman Vincent Aboubakar.

Choupo-Moting struggled to impose himself against Switzerland and Aboubakar, who won the Golden Boot at the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations, could start in his place after coming off the bench for 15 minutes against Switzerland.

Serbia boss Dragan Stojkovic has also reported no new injuries but he did have several players still working their way back to match fitness ahead of the competition.

Juventus forward Dusan Vlahovic was restricted to an appearance from the bench against Brazil but is expected to come in to support Aleksandar Mitrovic in attack.

Latest Cameroon vs Serbia Betfred Odds

Serbia to win and both teams to score @ 3/1

Serbia qualified for the World Cup thanks to a largely positive and attacking mindset, beating Portugal to top spot in the group as they scored 18 times across eight games – more than Spain, France and Italy.

We didn’t get to see much attacking intent from the Eagles against Brazil as Stojkovic sent his side out to keep it tight in the hope of frustrating Tite’s men and possibly snatching a point.

Ultimately, that gameplan fell short as Brazil scored two second-half goals to leave Serbia needing a result against Cameroon to set themselves on the right path for their final group game against Switzerland.

As good as Serbia can be going forward, they do have frailties at the back and Cameroon are likely to come across chances in the game.

Serbia have kept just one clean sheet in their last five outings and a win with both teams to score offers good value.

#PickYourPunt – Aleksandar Mitrovic to score anytime and Jean-Charles Castelletto to be carded @ 11/2

Mitrovic is Serbia’s leading man in the front line and he top-scored for his nation during in qualifying – registering eight times.

After hitting the ground running in the Premier League this season, netting nine goals in 12 appearances, he is full of confidence and could cause problems for Cameroon’s leaky defence.

Speaking of Cameroon’s defence, Jean-Charles Castelletto looks a prime candidate to receive a card with Mitrovic expected to keep him busy.

The Nantes defender was booked eight times for his club in Ligue 1 last season.
