Portugal and Uruguay round off the second round of group games from Qatar 2022 this Monday night and we take an overview of some of the key betting markets using the latest prices available on Betfred…
It would be fair to say that Portugal were more than a bit lucky to take all three points from their opening game with Ghana on Thursday afternoon. A soft penalty plus Ghana missing a gilt-edged chance as time expired helped see them squeak past their opponents 3-2. Five goals make it sound like it was a good game but it really wasn’t. More than half of the Shots on Target resulted in goals.
Uruguay were involved in a really dull 0-0 draw with South Korea last time out and having watched that match, it doesn’t fill me with excitement that this game is going to be all that. Diego Alonso has plenty of attacking talent to call upon with the likes of Luis Suarez, Edison Cavani and Darwin Nunez all fit and available.
We’ve added plenty of new player prop bets that are available around 24-48 hours before kick-off including tackles, assists and Shots on Target. You can check out all our latest prices for this one via the Latest Portugal vs Uruguay Odds button below.
Plenty of the talk will be about Cristiano Ronaldo however as the current free agent striker is still one of the most talked about footballers on the planet despite his advancing age. The Portugal captain is 11/8 to score anytime and you have to think that isn’t the worst price considering he’ll be on spot kick duty as well. CR7 is also a 7/2 shot to be booked and I would definitely be eyeing up that bet if I was putting together a #PickYourPunt Bet Builder.
The headline Match Result Market has Portugal as the Even money favourite with the draw a 12/5 play and Uruguay to win priced up at 3/1. I quite like the draw here and it could work well for both sides depending on how the South Korea vs Ghana game goes earlier in the game. If you like the goalless draw then 15/2 may well tempt considering the amount of games so far at the World Cup in which this bet has been a winner.
I’m not expecting it to be raining goals so the Under 2.5 at 4/6 seems like a better play than 11/10 for the Over and BTTS isn’t one for me, if you disagree then 10/11 is available.
Throughout this World Cup the Betfred Blog team will have a full betting preview and a big-priced Bet Builder for every game, so keep checking back with us for our latest World Cup pieces every day for Qatar 2022…
