Wales are going back to the World Cup Finals for the first time since 1958 and we take a look at some of their prices on the Betfred markets along with plenty of Gareth Bale Specials…
It would be fair to say that the joy in making back to the tournament for the first time in over half a Century is on its own worthy of celebration. Going deep in Qatar however would be even better and after what they did at Euro 2016, who are we to write them off?
Lifting the trophy seems like a bit of a pipe-dream according to the odds as Betfred have priced up Rob Page’s men at 150/1 to win it all. That is the same price as Ecuador and Canada. That would surely be quite the punt but the 11/2 for them to win Group A isn’t anywhere near as farfetched.
England are the 4/11 favourites but they haven’t looked anything special since their defeat in the Euro 2020 Final and most would expect the Welsh to be more than competitive with both the USA and Iran. It is a little bit surprising however to see that all four teams in this group are currently ranked in the top 20 in the FIFA Rankings. Personally, I’m not sure what to make of that but it does indicate a much more combative group than we may have thought when the draw happened. Wales are just about odds against the time of writing (21/20) to even quality from Group A.
World Cup Betting Odds
You can bet on which stage of the tournament they will get eliminated and Wales are odds on (8/11) to leave Qatar before the knockout games get underway. It is 15/8 for defeat in the Last 16, 13/2 for a QF loss, making the last four but stopping there is 20/1 with 50/1 for being the defeated finalist and the aforementioned 150/1 to win it all.
Talisman Gareth Bale has several specials up on the site with the 33 year-old a 15/8 shot to score two or more. Remember he found the back of the net three times during their run to the semi’s at Euro 2016, for him to score three again you can get 3/1. Four or more sees the price jump considerably to 12/1 and if you think five or more is worth a punt, can I interest you in 40/1? His Top Goalscorer price is 66/1.
If you want to team him up with another Welsh legend then 5/2 is what you can get for both him and Aaron Ramsey to score at Qatar 2022.
England fans always talk about penalties due to their history with spot kicks but the Welsh don’t have such bad memories. If you fancy a dabble on them to make the knockout stages and then win any game via spot kicks, you can get that at 14/1.
