Cristiano Ronaldo has become a sideshow at Manchester United – and should have been sold in the summer.
That’s the damning verdict of ex-England ‘keeper Paul Robinson who told Betfred’s Football Show that he thinks the Reds will fall to their second Premier League defeat on the bounce … losing two-nil at Everton on Sunday night.
But the former Leeds and Spurs stopper believes Marcus Rashford should be in Gareth Southgate’s England squad for the World Cup in Qatar. “He can play number nine if Harry Kane is injured. He is looking sharp again,” said Robinson, who believes that despite the 6-3 mauling against Manchester City, United are making progress under Erik ten Hag.
Robinson, who told the show he plays golf with Erling Haaland’s proud father Alfie, says the Norwegian superstar striker is staking an early claim to be a Premier League great. He’s predicting a 6-0 win for City on Saturday afternoon but thinks league leaders Arsenal will beat struggling Liverpool on Sunday 2-1, to go back on top of the table.
On Liverpool, Robinson said they are being found out defensively and are “nowhere near” challenging for the title, while the Arsenal board are being rewarded for the faith they are showing in Mikel Arteta.
In the other games this weekend, Robinson thinks Leicester will win 3-1 at Bournemouth, Chelsea will triumph 4-1 at home to Wolves, Newcastle will triumph two-nil v Brentford, and Brighton and Spurs will draw two each.
He’s predicting a score draw 1-1 between Crystal Palace and Leeds, West Ham will win two goals to one against London rivals Fulham – and finally on Monday, Nottingham Forest will draw at home one-all with Aston Villa.
