One of the biggest games on Tuesday night in the Champions League comes from the San Siro where Inter Milan welcome in Barcelona. We have picked out a 13/2 #PinkYourPunt fourfold and have some thoughts on the match result market…
Barcelona over 4.5 corners
Inter Milan over 4.5 corners
BTTS
Robert Lewandowski to score anytime
We’ll start with the corner plays as for each team to get five corners doesn’t seem like a huge leap. Inter have cleared the 4.5 corners mark five times in their previous six games including both Champions League games so far. Simone Inzaghi’s men have been averaging six corners a game and are conceding 4.1 per 90 minutes in Serie A. With the prowess of Barcelona’s attacking talent, it would be no surprise whatsoever if they cleared the 4.5 mark either. They are averaging 6.3 per game and only just fell short with four in Munich when they travelled to take on the mighty Bayern. With both teams having already suffered defeat to the German giants, they will both feel that they are already fighting for second place and that could spur a more attacking game.
To that end, I’m also liking the BTTS here on Tuesday night. Only the aforementioned Bayern Munich have stopped I Nerazzurri from hitting the back of the net so far in the 21/22 campaign. Inter have been spreading the goals around somewhat with Lautaro Martinez being the top scorer with just three goals but no fewer than eight other players have hit the back of the net. This means that Barca won’t be able to solely focus on one player and goals can come from anywhere. When it comes to the away side, they’ve also been blanked by Bayern (who are getting a lot of words written about them considering this preview isn’t about them) but apart from that 0-2 result in Germany, they’ve cored at least once in every game since an Opening Day 0-0 draw in La Liga.
It won’t come as a shock that I’ve thrown a Robert Lewandowski to score anytime into the mix to bump up the odds but the Polish striker is just a phenomenon. He’s scored in five of his past six games and is on a level with Manchester City’s Erling Haaland in terms of pure attacking goal threat. It is a 4/6 single but adding that fourth leg makes this a 13/2 #PinkYourPunt fourfold.
When it comes to the Match Result market, Barca are a 4/5 odds-on favourite, which surprises me a little bit. Inter (3/1) have been feast or famine in Serie A so far this having won four times but have also been on the wrong side of the scoreline four times. The draw at 11/4 looks like the value play as even though Inter have yet to share the spoils in any single game this season, they are a decent side and shouldn’t be discounted even against a strong Barcelona side.
