Tottenham Hotspur boss Antonio Conte has full belief that striker Heung-Min Son will soon be back on the goal trail, perhaps as soon as at home to Leicester City (Match betting – Spurs 1/2, Draw 19/5, Leicester 11/2).
The South Korean ace, 6/4 to score at any time in the Saturday teatime kick-off, knocked in 23 goals last term to share the Premier League Golden Boot with Liverpool ace Mohamed Salah, but has yet to find the net in his six league outings so far this season.
However, Conte is still right behind his player, who has drifted out to 50/1 to be leading goalscorer in the Premier League this season and who may be left on the bench if his current dry spell continues.
The Italian told reporters: “When you score a lot of goals, the following season is more difficult because you are not an underdog.
“But when you don’t score, for sure the confidence goes a bit down. At the same time, I think a strong player copes with this situation, faces this situation and overcomes this situation.”
Conte has few injury problems to contend with as Spurs aim to continue their unbeaten start to the new campaign, although Brazilian forward Lucas Moura misses out due to a knee problem.
Meanwhile, the Foxes have endured a dreadful start to the new season, having picked up just a single point from the six Premier League games they have played to date.
Their lone point came from a 2-2 draw at home to Brentford on the opening weekend, although City even managed to squander a two-goal lead in that fixture and they have since conceded 14 times in five consecutive losses.
Head coach Brendan Rodgers hopes to have Belgian midfielder Dennis Praet back in his squad after a foot problem, while wing-backs Ryan Bertrand and Ricardo Pereira remain on the long-term injured list.
