There is a massive clash at the top of the Championship on Friday evening. 2nd placed Norwich City travel to Turf Moor to take on 5th placed Burnley. We’ve taken a look at the fixture and provided you with a couple of suggested bets for the occasion.
Burnley vs. Norwich Tips
These two sides were amongst the pre-season favourites for Championship promotion and after some initial teething problems, both clubs have started to click into gear. Burnley have played some superb football under new boss Vincent Kompany but have looked fragile at the back, which has cost them several lost points from winning positions. A win here at home in front of the Sky TV lights, against a promotion rival, would make a statement to the rest of the division that Burnley will be in and around the promotion places, come the end of the season.
Norwich started winless in their opening three fixtures, before a perfect return of 15 points from their last five matches has seen them rise into the automatic promotion spots. Manager Dean Smith will be delighted with the response from his squad and will be targeting this as another game they can pick up three points in.
Kompany will still be without long term injuries Ashley Westwood and Scott Twine.
Dean Smith has several long term absentees including Dimitrios Giannoulis, Sam McCullum and Jacob Sørensen, whilst Liam Gibbs is a doubt.
Burnley are surprisingly short to win this one at 6/5, The Canaries are priced at 11/5, while you can pick up the draw at 9/4. You can find all the markets available below.
Norwich Double Chance – 8/13
I was surprised when I saw the match odds for this huge Championship clash. The Canaries are available at 11/5, which looks huge for a side coming into this tie on the back of five straight wins. City have conceded just two goals in their last five games, whilst at the same time scoring 10 goals. I wouldn’t put anyone off backing Norwich outright but given Burnley’s propensity for drawing games, I am hedging my bets slightly and will be backing them in the Double Chance market.
Josh Sargent to score anytime – 9/4
One of the reasons for the Canaries run of victories is the form that Josh Sargent is producing right now. The 22-year-old American has been in superb nick and has been playing in the false nine position in the absence of regular top scorer Teemu Pukki. The flying Finn was back in the starting line up in midweek and scored but that didn’t stop Sargent from scoring yet again. He has now racked up five goals in his eight appearances, with all of them coming in his last five starts.
