World number 31 Karen Khachanov overcame Nick Kyrgios in an epic five-set encounter at the US Open to reach the last-four stage of a Grand Slam for the first time, while Caroline Garcia is also enjoying an historic run in the women’s draw.

Russian Khachanov managed to edge out his Australian foe to win 7-5 4-6 7-5 6-7 6-4 and continue his quest for a maiden Grand Slam title, which he is 11/2 to achieve at Flushing Meadows.
It was a brutal contest between the pair and the 27th seed will now take on Norwegian Casper Ruud, who produced a brilliant performance to defeat Italian Matteo Berrettini in straight sets, winning 6-1 6-4 7-6 (Khachanov 6/4, Ruud 8/15 – Match Result).
Meanwhile, there was also history being made in the women’s draw as Garcia booked her place in the semi-final of the singles at a Grand Slam for the first time with a 6-3 6-4 victory over Cori Gauff.
The Frenchwoman next faces Tunisian Ons Jabeur, this year’s Wimbledon runner-up, for a place in the final following her 6-4 7-6 victory over Ajla Tomljanovic (Garcia 8/13, Jabeur 5/4 – Match Result).
Wednesday’s action will see the final semi-final places confirmed in both the men’s and women’s draw, with Rafael Nadal’s conqueror, Frances Tiafoe, taking on Andrey Rublev (Match Result – Rublev 10/11, Tiafoe 10/11).
Rising stars Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz will then face off in the early hours of Thursday and the Italian is 6/4 to advance into the last-four stage at the expense of his 8/15 Spanish opponent.
