Northamptonshire’s Saif Zaib says he is excited to link up with the Northern Superchargers ahead of their Hundred clash with Trent Rockets (Match betting- Superchargers 21/20, Rockets 8/11) on Tuesday evening.

The left-handed batter has been added to the squad due to an injury suffered by Luke Wright and will hope to take full advantage as a replacement player.

He has been in excellent white-ball form recently and scored a maiden List A century against Essex at the weekend.

Zaib has been with Northamptonshire since 2014 and has played 37 first-class matches, while also featuring 40 times at T20 level.

The 24-year-old will link up with the Superchargers for their Headingley clash against the Rockets before they face the Oval Invincibles on Thursday.

“I’m excited to be linking up with the Northern Superchargers this week.” Zaib said.

“It’s obviously my first taste of the new format so I’m looking forward to getting going. It’s a great opportunity to be involved, even if it’s only for a couple of games.”

Both the Superchargers and Rockets (Rockets 9/2, Superchargers 11/2 – outright) won their opening matches of this year’s competition in convincing fashion as they try and dethrone Southern Brave who won last year’s trophy.

The Superchargers defeated Manchester Originals by six wickets at Old Trafford with Adam Lyth making 51.

The Rockets won their first match by the same margin, with former England man Alex Hales smacking 58 on way to victory.

There is an impressive array of talent in the Rockets squad with former Test captain Joe Root among their batting line-up, which also includes Dawid Malan and New Zealand’s Colin Munro.

However, the Superchargers have some stars of their own with England bowler Matt Potts part of their attack, as well as veteran West Indian all-rounder Dwayne Bravo.

Last year, Trent Rockets won the group game between these two sides by two wickets and will hope to repeat the feat at Headingley.
