Thursday sees SW19 focused entirely on the women’s singles with both semi-finals taking place at the All England Club.
Of the four players left standing in the women’s draw, only Simona Halep has tasted victory in a Grand Slam event before so this is looks to be very wide open.
The Romanian won Wimbledon three years ago while she was also victorious at the French Open in 2018.
Despite being only ranked as the 16th seed, her class and experience has been shown in full, and the 30-year-old has not dropped a single set during the tournament so far.
Her opponent on Thursday is Elena Rybakina (Match betting – Rybakina 9/4, Halep 1/3) with the Kazakh player showing plenty of resolve on Wednesday after coming from a set down to defeat Australian Ajla Tomljanovic 4-6 6-2 6-3.
She is the 17th seed and is enjoying her best-ever run at a major event.
The other semi-final sees number three seed Ons Jabeur – the highest-ranked seed left in the tournament – face unseeded German Tatjana Maria (Match betting – Jabeur 1/8, Maria 5/1).
Jabeur has enjoyed a sharp rise in the world of tennis after a great 2022 which has seen her climb up to world number two and reach four finals, winning two of them.
The Tunisian is widely expected to beat Maria, who has been one of the surprise stories of this year’s tournament.
Prior to this year’s Wimbledon, she had never gone beyond the second round of any Grand Slam event and arrived into the tournament ranked 376 in the world.
