It’s Independence Day in the USA on Monday and there’s a busy day of holiday racing to come, with seven meetings scheduled.
The first of the July 4th racing events to get under way is at Horseshoe Indianapolis, where there are nine races between 17:00 and 21:13.
Laurel Park also has nine contests later, with the first race there due off at 17:40 and the finale is set for 22:06. The third meeting to start on Monday is at Belmont Park at 18:00 and the 10th and final race from the New York track is at 22:44.
The sixth race at Belmont is one of Betfred’s designated ‘Extra Place’ contests and Bustin Shout (SP) is a leading contender.
He has won seven races from 5f to 6f on a mixture of good ground and on the all-weather, including when victorious at Aqueduct over 6f last time out in April, so this 6f challenge today against six rivals looks to be to his liking.
Fort Erie only has six races today, between 18:05 and 20:25, and the 19:01 is another of Betfred’s ‘Extra Place’ contests. In it, Samuel H (SP) and Synchromesh (SP) are the ones to watch, with the latter tipped to go one better after finishing second of nine on his latest outing at Fort Erie last month.
Canterbury Park’s meeting is underway at 19:10, with the ninth and final race due off at 23:27, and in the 20:00 – which is another of Betfred’s promotional ‘Extra Place’ races – Unembellished (SP) can run well in first-time blinkers.
He has previously won at 1m and will need to improve on his last outing here last month when he finished in a disappointing fourth when sent off as favourite. However, this field looks weak generally and it should suit Karl Broberg’s charge.
Los Alamitos is the penultimate meeting to get underway later, with the first of nine races due off at 21:00 and the finale set for 01:00, while Pleasanton stages seven races between 21:45 and 00:45.
