It’s day one of the prestigious Royal Ascot Flat meeting on Tuesday 14th June and there are seven fantastic races to take in, while there is also accompanying action from Thirsk, Stratford, Beverley, Brighton and Roscommon.
First up is Stratford’s six-race card, the action running from 13:35 until 16:30, before the attention then switches over to a seven-race offering at Thirsk (13:45-17:15), with extra places being paid out in the 14:55 and 16:05.
All eyes will then be on the opening day of the famous Royal Ascot meeting – Flat racing’s premier summer extravaganza – with the opener going off at 14:30 and finale scheduled for 18:10.
Extra places are on offer in the 15:05, 15:40, 17:00, 17:35 and the finale, giving punters plenty of opportunity for success, while the Group 1 St James’s Palace Stakes at 16:20 is likely to garner much attention.
Charlie Appleby’s Coroebus is the 4/5 favourite to claim the spoils in the St James’s Palace Stakes and looks difficult to oppose, although stiff competition could come from the likes of 9/2 My Prospero and 11/1 Mighty Ulysses.
After the action in Berkshire, the focus turns towards the sole Irish meeting of the day, an eight-race card from Roscommon that opens up with the 16:50 and concludes with the 20:30.
The 17:25, 18:30, 19:00 and the 20:00 all benefit from the extra place promotion and the last of that quartet – the Country Music Festival Here On June 19th Handicap Hurdle – could see a big battle between 5/2 The Big Chap and Moving Water (5/2).
The penultimate meeting of the day comes from Beverley, a seven-race card that runs from 17:10 until 20:15, and the finale is covered by Betfred’s ‘Free Bet if 2nd’ promotion.
Last, but by no means least, Tuesday’s action concludes with Brighton’s seven-race offering (17:20-20:23) and there are extra places to take advantage of in the 19:23 and 19:53.
