Rafael Nadal (7/2 – French Open Outright) and Novak Djokovic are set for an explosive quarter-final clash after the pair secured their places in the last-eight stage of the French Open.
However, that meeting will have to wait for now as Monday’s action will see the remaining fourth-round matches completed.
Spaniard Nadal – who is chasing a record-extending 14th title in Paris – came through a tough five-setter against Felix Auger-Aliassime to book a quarter-final encounter with Djokovic, who lost just seven games in his victory over Diego Schwartzman.
In the other quarter-final in the top half of the draw, Carlos Alcaraz will take on Alexander Zverev and the highly-rated Spaniard is the firm 2/9 favourite to claim the spoils against his 3/1 German foe.
Over in the women’s draw, Coco Gauff and Sloane Stephens set up an all-American quarter-final (Match result – Gauff 1/2, Stephens 13/8) after picking up respective victories over Elise Mertens and Jil Teichmann.
In the other QF in that section of the draw, 17th seed Leylah Fernandez will face Martina Trevisan after they overcame Amanda Anisimova and Aliaksandra Sasnovich in their respective fourth-round matches.
Monday’s action will see the remaining fourth-round matches in both the men’s and women’s draw played out and there are some intriguing battles taking place, including Casper Ruud’s meeting with Hubert Hurkacz (Match Result – Ruud 8/13, Hurkacz 5/4).
Fourth seed Stefanos Tsitsipas goes up against unseeded Holger Rune, who has impressed on his singles debut at Roland Garros, while Andrey Rublev faces Jannik Sinner and Marin Cilic takes on Daniil Medvedev.
In the women’s draw, world number one and top seed Iga Swiatek goes up against Zheng Qinwen for a place in the quarter-finals (Match result – Swiatek 1/25, Zheng 9/1) and Jessica Pegula faces Irina-Camelia Begu.
The other two fourth-round ties see Madison Keys tackle Veronika Kudermetova and Camila Giorgi battle Daria Kasatkina.
