It’s another exciting day of US racing on Friday 27th May, with action from Pimlico, Belmont Park, Gulfstream, Hawthorne, Santa Anita, Golden Gate Fields, Penn National, Evangeline Downs, Charles Town, Prairie Meadows and Lone Star, while there is also Woodbine’s meeting in Canada to take in.
Up first is Pimlico’s eight-race offering – the action going from 17:40 until 21:15 – and there are extra places being paid out in the opener and the 20:43, in which last-time-out winners’ Little Bit Of That (SP), Sweet Gracie (SP) and Joe Mike Jim (SP) are expected to challenge.
There are no fewer than nine races to take in at Belmont Park, the opener set for 18:00 and the finale scheduled for 22:12, and there are extra places to take advantage of in the 18:32, 20:34, 21:08 and the closer.
A large field of 16 runners will be contesting the 22:12, which is set over 6f, and the Jose Ortiz-ridden Gracefully Wild (SP) could be one to watch out for after recording back-to-back runners-up finishes heading into this event.
Gulfstream also stages nine races (18:05-22:34) and there are extra places in the 19:51, 20:25 and 20:55, while there is then a bumper 10-race card taking place at Hawthorne (20:50-00:35).
The attention then switches over to Santa Anita’s nine-race meet, the action running from 21:00 until 01:15, while there are also eight races to take in at Golden Gate Fields (21:45-01:30) as the action comes thick and fast.
It’s off to Canada next for Woodbine’s seven-race offering (21:50-00:51) and there are extra places to utilise in the opener, 23:53 and the 00:22, with the action then switching back to US soil for eight events at Penn National (23:00-02:10).
Evangeline Downs is up next, the nine-race card running from 23:30 until 03:07, before the third last meeting of the day, which is an eight-race spectacle from Charles Town (00:00-03:32).
Onto Iowa for seven races at Prairie Meadows between 00:00 to 02:42, while last, but by no means least, the final action of the day comes from Lone Star, with the first of eight races going off at 00:35 and the finale scheduled for 03:51.
