Ben Davies says Tottenham “can’t wait” to take on Arsenal in Thursday’s potentially season-defining North London derby (Match Result – Tottenham 13/10, Draw 12/5, Arsenal 12/5).
The pair meet at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in what could prove to be the crucial clash in the battle for the remaining top four spot (Top 4 Finish – Arsenal 1/3, Tottenham 9/4).
The Gunners cross town in fine form after winning their last four and know another victory would cement their place in next season’s Champions League.
However, in their way stands a determined Spurs side who showed how far they have come under Antonio Conte in Saturday’s spirited 1-1 draw against Liverpool.
Davies (25/1 – Anytime Goalscorer) was named man-of-the-match for his performance at Anfield, making several crucial blocks to thwart the Reds’ title push and help continue his own side’s momentum.
Spurs head into Thursday’s game having lost just one of their last eight and a win could set them up for a blockbuster finish to the season with a pair of winnable games against Burnley and Norwich City on the agenda to conclude their campaign.
The Welshman says Saturday’s performance on Merseyside has only boosted the belief within the squad and admits they are excited about the opportunity to pile pressure on their neighbours.
“We knew the importance of the result at Anfield, and a draw continues our momentum, now we’re ready for the big one,” he told Spurs TV. “We can’t wait. These are the matches you want to be involved in.
“We probably wouldn’t have expected to be here before the manager came in, he’s put us in this position to really have a go.”
