As a proud United fan, it’s getting very difficult indeed with a nightmare double whammy on the cards.
Liverpool – arguably our greatest rivals – are now 9/2 at Betfred for the unprecedented quadruple.
If that isn’t enough for this lifelong United supporter, that would mean the Merseyside Reds pipping City for the Premier League title. Of course, I’ve already paid out, to the tune of £750,000 just before Christmas, on City being champs, so I’m facing up to not just Liverpool beating United’s 1999 treble but also having the micky taken out of me by those joyous scousers.
Betfred are 2/1 that City win all their remaining matches, and 3/1 for Liverpool to do the same – while if you think they both win all four remaining games, we go 10/1 about that.
I have to recognise that City were incredibly unlucky to go out of the Champions League in such dramatic circumstances to Real Madrid on Wednesday.
Pep Guardiola was so dignified afterwards, and I tell you what I wouldn’t like to be in Newcastle’s shoes at the Etihad on Sunday!
The title is in touching distance, and surely City can’t let that slip too.
