The opening day of the inaugural Winter Million meeting takes place at Lingfield on Friday, with seven races to look forward to, including the feature Sovereign Handicap Hurdle.

Over a million pounds of prize money will be handed out across the three days of the meeting, with jumps action taking place on the turf on Friday and Sunday, while Saturday’s flat card will be run on the Polytrack surface.

Friday’s action gets under way with a Mares’ Novices’ Hurdle at 12:50, while it will be the mares that once again take centre stage for the 13:20 Novices’ Handicap Chase.

Eclair D’Ainay (4/1) could be the horse to stop in the Handicap Chase at 13:50 for trainer Dan Skelton, as he was a comfortable winner on his most recent start at Wetherby over the festive period.

The Winter Million Hurdle takes centre stage at 14:25, a race that could see On The Blindside (Evens) and Emitom (5/4) do battle, while Broken Halo (5/2) will be looking to build on an impressive win at Exeter earlier this month in the Novices’ Chase at 15:00.

All eyes will then be on the feature race at 15:35, the Sovereign Handicap Hurdle, where former Tolworth Hurdle winner Metier (11/4) does battle with the likes of Lucky Max (11/2), Carrarea (9/2) and Hudson De Grugy (11/2) – the latter was a C&D winner just last month.

Friday’s action is then rounded off by the Winter Million Handicap Chase at 16:08, while don’t forget to check out Betfred’s ‘Extra Place’ promotion, which will be available for the feature at 15:35, as well as the offerings at 13:50 and 15:00.
