Neil Robertson (11/2 – to win World Championship) believes he has to win multiple world titles to be considered one of game’s greats, having clinched his second Masters success by beating Barry Hawkins 10-4 in Sunday’s final at Alexandra Palace.

The Thunder from Down Under punished an out-of-sorts Hawkins (33/1 – to win World Championship) to claim what was also his sixth success in a Triple Crown event, as well as further underlining his standing as the most successful non-British player of all-time.

The Australian has now set his sights on winning multiple world titles – having only once claimed Crucible glory back in 2010 – and despite turning 40 next month, he certainly feels he is still has time on his side, pointing to the example of veteran NFL quarterback Tom Brady, who has continued to win Super Bowls into his 40s.

“(Winning multiple world titles) is the last thing to tick,” Robertson told the BBC following his Masters success. “It’s not too late to become a three or four-time world champion.

“Look at Tom Brady, he is a massive inspiration. When you have people like that carrying the flag you can achieve anything well into your 40s. You just have to stay confident and keep believing.”

Despite all his success, Robertson’s record at the Betfred World Championship has been poor since he lifted the title over a decade ago, as he has only reached one semi-final since that success.

The world number four acknowledges the Crucible has not been his favourite venue over the years, but he knows he must start delivering in Sheffield if he is to go down as one of the all-time greats.

“I have the confidence to do it, I just need to have the right mindset,” he added. “I have to win multiple world titles now to be considered among the handful of greats.

“I know how well respected I am in the sport, but you have to win multiple world titles to be in the top four or five discussions, for sure.”

This year’s Betfred World Championship takes place at the Crucible from April 16th-May 2nd.
