Tottenham manager Antonio Conte says his team are ready to give “everything” as they try to overturn a two-goal deficit against Chelsea and reach the Carabao Cup final (Tottenham 21/10, Draw 23/10, Chelsea 13/10 – match odds).
Spurs were outclassed at Stamford Bridge last week and fell to a 2-0 defeat. Kai Havertz opened the scoring before Ben Davies’ own goal extended Chelsea’s lead.
Conte’s side have it all to do, and they will make history on Wednesday night if they can book their place at Wembley. Spurs can become just the second team to reach the League Cup final, having lost the semi-final first leg by more than one goal, with Aston Villa the last team to do it in 1994.
Due to a muscle problem, Conte will be without forward Son Heung-Min, while Chelsea are waiting to see if Thiago Silva and midfielder N’Golo Kante have recovered from Covid-19.
Spurs have improved their fortunes under Conte, and the Italian is ready for a tough night at the office, with home advantage set to play a huge role.
He told the club’s official website: “When you start and you lost the first game 2-0, it’s not easy, but at the same time we want to try to give everything on the pitch, to show personality, to show character, to show the will and the desire to fight.
“We know very well that they are a really good and important team in this moment. They won the Champions League last season, they tried to improve their team and their squad with good investment this summer, but at the same time, we want to continue to improve and to show, first of all to us, that we are improving, that our work is going well.
“We know that it’s an important game, and we want to try to play a good game and try to give everything.”
Chelsea, EVS to win the EFL Cup, are unbeaten in ten matches, and they have only failed to win three of their previous ten on the road.
