There are only two meetings for UK and Irish racing fans to look forward to on Sunday, but that’s not to suggest there isn’t plenty to get excited about.
Betfred are offering incentives on the cards at both Carlisle and Southwell, at each of which they head over the jumps.
Carlisle is first off, with the Cumbrian venue hosting seven races between 12:00 and 15:10.
Punters may look to pay special attention to the 14:10, a Handicap Hurdle over 3m1f which features Betfred’s Free Bet if 2nd offer.
This looks set to be a truly competitive affair and respect has to be paid to Bass Rock, who won at this course in October before going well in graded company at Haydock last time out.
Meanwhile, at Southwell, they also have seven contests, running from 12:15 to 15:25.
The opener carries Betfred’s Extra Place Race offer, with them paying out to fourth, and this Handicap Chase could well go the way of 10/3 Mozzaro, who won on his chasing debut at this track last month.
A rise of 2lb shouldn’t prove too significant a hindrance and the feeling is that he should also handle the step up in trip to over three miles.
Southwell also hosts a Free Bet if 2nd at 12:45 and Donald McCain’s Armattiekan was previously expected to go well following his recent win at Wincanton.
However, he is now a non-runner and that could open the door to 9/4 Dreamsundermyfeet, who has won on four of his last five starts.
