Monday’s afternoon racing action in the UK comes from Ludlow and Musselburgh, before an evening meeting on the all-weather track at Wolverhampton.

Ludlow stages a seven-race jumps card from 12:30, with the last race scheduled for 15:30 at the Shropshire venue.

At 14:00, Switch Hitter (9/4) will be eyeing victory in the Corrie Cup Handicap Chase over 3m 1½f after making a winning start over fences last month at Hereford.

Paul Nicholls’ runner has been bumped up 2lb in the ratings, but he still looks among the best in the seven-strong field, although Outonpatrol (4/1) may also have a say.

The next race on the card, at 14:30, sees just four runners line up for a two-mile Handicap Chase and all four could be in contention.

The preference is for Wild Max (3/1), though, who should be much better than when finishing 10th of 14 on a disappointing seasonal reappearance at Ascot last time out as this four-time hurdles winner looks to transfer his form to the jumps.

At Musselburgh there are also seven races – between 12:15 and 15:15 – and in the 13:15, the Visit Handicap Hurdle, First Impression (Evens) stands out.

The four-year old was impressive when landing a 2m handicap hurdle at Wetherby last month and will be after a similar show this afternoon north of the border.

The action at Wolverhampton today gets under way at 16:00 and finishes at 19:00 with seven races scheduled to entertain in the Black Country.
