The Grade 1 Hollywood Derby and Grade 2 Seabiscuit Handicap at Del Mar are the main attractions among nine race meetings in the US and Canada on Saturday.

The finale at Del Mar, due off at 00:29, is the $400,000 Grade 1 Hollywood Derby for three-year-olds, run over a mile and an eighth on the turf. Public Sector (5/2) and Sifting Sands (10/1) for Chad Brown are both expected to be in the shake-up with the latter looking for his fourth victory from seven career starts.

Sifting Sands’ was particularly impressive when coming home first two starts ago at Saratoga and, drawn in the middle for the Hollywood Derby, this could be a great chance for another memorable success.

The other big race at Del Mar is due off at 22:32 when a field of seven is due to go to post for the Seabiscuit Handicap and Sacred Life (11/8) is likely to head the market.

Drawn in the outside stall, Sacred Life, who finished second in this race two years ago, has ended up among the first four in all 12 starts to date, outings which include the Grade One Pegasus World Cup Turf, Bourbon Turf Classic and the Maker’s Mark Mile. He won the Grade 3 KnickerBocker Stakes at Belmont Park last time and Jose Ortiz will be charged with steering him to another victory, ahead of likely main dangers Field Pass (11/4) and Flop Shot (7/2).

The first meeting underway on Saturday stateside is at Aqueduct at 16:50, where there are 10 races, with the last one due off at 21:13. Next up is Laurel Park’s nine-race card, starting at 17:25 and finishing up after the 21:22.

Tampa Bay Downs’ meeting starts at 17:38 and there are 10 races there with the last one set for 22:08, while the action at Woodbine in Canada is due off at 17:55 with the last race of 11 scheduled for 23:15. In that finale, Milano (2/1) is highly-fancied, while the likes of Keep Grinding (11/2) and Malibu Edge (11/2) will also hope to compete for the top prize.

Golden Gate Fields (20:45-00:44) has nine races later, Hawthorne stages eight between 21:10 and 00:26 and Charles Town has eight between midnight and 03:32.

Finally, Remington Park has nine races, starting at 01:07 and finishing with the 04:51.
