Eddie Hearn has said that Anthony Joshua is “angry” and wants to “bash Usyk up” after losing to the Ukrainian by unanimous decision at the end of September.
The pair are expected to rematch next spring (Usyk 2/5, Joshua 2/1, Draw 20/1) and, according to reports, Joshua is considering leaving long-time trainer Rob McCracken.
We caught up with Hearn at the press conference for Parker v Chisora 2 (Parker 2/5, Chisora 21/10, Draw 18/1) in Manchester, where he spoke at length about the “Christmas cracker” fight, AJ’s next move as well as putting on 10 fights in seven weeks, in six different countries.
Hearn insists Joshua wasn’t looking for a new trainer in his recent trip to the US but was perhaps exploring a change of scenery.
“Robert McCracken is more than just a trainer to AJ. He’s a friend, he’s a mentor, he’s an advisor.”
“I think a change of scenery is sometimes good. When he went over to America recently, it was quite refreshing for him not to be mobbed literally wherever he is.”
