Winger Tom Davies believes Catalans Dragons can make history as Steve McNamara’s side try to win their first Betfred Super League Grand Final when they take on St Helens on Saturday evening at Old Trafford (Catalans 13/5, tie 22/1, St Helens 2/5 – Match Betting).

The 24-year-old has enjoyed a stellar campaign so far, making the Super League Dream Team for the first time in his career. Davies is hoping that is just the start of something this week, as Catalans try to stop St Helens from winning three successive Grand Finals.

Kristian Woolf’s side have dominated the English game for the past two campaigns, but Davies knows what it takes to win a Grand Final. He was part of the Wigan Warriors team that beat Warrington Wolves in 2018, a team that also included Catalans teammate Sam Tomkins.

Davies says his maiden Grand Final success was an incredible experience, but he claims a win on Saturday would eclipse that.

He told the Manchester Evening News: “It’s the first Grand Final in Catalans’ history, and I just think to be a part of that would be unbelievable.

“In one hundred years’ time, if rugby league in Catalans is still a thing, they will be talking about this. They will say, ‘this was the first Catalans team to ever win it’.

“I love it here so much – the place, the people and the lads I’m with every day.

“Everything has been perfect, and I couldn’t be happier, so to win it after breaking my leg, coming back and then moving to a new team in a different country would make it more special.”
