Newly-crowned 2021 Steve Prescott Man of Steel award winner Sam Tomkins will be a player to look out for as the Catalans Dragons do battle with St Helens in the Betfred Super League Grand Final on Saturday (Catalans 12/5, draw 22/1, St Helens 2/5 – Match Winner 80 minutes).

The former Wigan Warriors full-back picked up the award on Monday night for the second time in his career, having previously been named Man of Steel back in 2012.

Tomkins (6/4 anytime tryscorer) was delighted to land the individual prize and will be hoping his team can cap off a perfect end to the league campaign, having already secured the League Leaders Shield this term.

“It is a huge honour to receive the Man of Steel award. It comes off the back of some great team performances and I feel lucky to be playing in a great team at Catalans,” Tomkins said.

He added: “It was a long time ago when I won it for the first time. Someone showed me some pictures from the time, I was just a young kid enjoying playing rugby.

“I’m at a very different stage of my life now. It means a little bit more to me as I know I’ve not got another 10 years of playing the sport.”

Another veteran Tomkins and the Dragons will be keeping a close eye at Old Trafford on Saturday is St Helens playmaker Jonny Lomax (15/8 anytime tryscorer).

Lomax, along with Alex Walmsley and Morgan Knowles were the Saints’ stars named in the 2021 Super League Dream Team and the 31-year-old has enjoyed a stellar campaign.

England international Lomax will be looking to make it a hat-trick of Grand Final wins in his career this weekend, for what is set to be an intriguing encounter between the sides that finished in the top two after the end of the regular season.
