Building site labourer Kunlet Alli constructed a big win at Betfred by not only predicting the winners of five football matches at the weekend but also that both teams would score.

The 45-year-old from Liverpool won £7,886 from a £10 Goals Galore Extra accumulator.

Kunlet, a regular at the Betfred shop at South Parade, Speke, spent five minutes studying form and opted for Chelsea to beat Southampton in the Premier League, Bournemouth and QPR to triumph over Sheffield United and Preston in the Championship, Bolton to get the better of Shrewsbury in Division One and finally Wycombe to beat Morecambe in Division Two.

All was going swimmingly in four of the games, but he was sweating when Morecambe took a 2-0 lead after just 26 minutes against Wycombe.

His bet was saved, however, after Wanderers midfielder Curtis Thompson bagged the winner in the 92nd minute to win the game 4-3.

He said: “My formula, if you like, is to pick a team in form against a side who is scoring a few goals. More often than not one of the teams lets me down in this kind of bet, but not this time.

“I just use basic maths when doing this coupon.”

Betfred boss Fred Done said: “It just shows how you can win big at Betfred from a small stake.

“I understand Kunlet is a Liverpool fan, but even as a big United supporter I am paying out with a big smile… honestly!”
