It’s Ayr Gold Cup day while the Mill Reef Stakes is just one of the highlights on a quality card at Newbury on what is a busy day of racing on both sides of the Irish Sea.
There is action also coming from Newmarket, Ayr, Catterick and Wolverhampton in the UK, as well as racing from Navan and Gowran Park in Ireland.
Newmarket is where the ball gets rolling with a seven-race card opening up at 13:00, with the finale set to go off at 16:25. Betfred are offering an extra place promotion in the penultimate race at 15:50, with three places being paid in the seven-runner affair.
Newbury is next off with a quality right-race card underway at 13:10, with two Group 3’s taking pace before the closing race at 17:05, in which Betfred are paying an extra place (four places at 1/5 of odds).
The feature race is the Group 2 Dubai Duty Free Mill Reef Stakes at 16:00, for which John and Thady Gosden appear to have the one to beat with Dhabab installed as the 9/4 favourite.
Navan is hosting the only jumps card on Saturday with an eight-race card due off at 13:15, running through until 17:10, with Betfred’s extra place promotion offered for half the card in races two, three, six and seven.
Attention may then turn to Ayr and their calendar highlight card, with eight races coming up from 13:20 to 17:20, with the Ayr Gold Cup the fifth race on the card at 15:40, one of five races at the track in which an extra place is being offered.
Ed Walker’s Great Ambassador heads the market at 9/2 as he goes in search of a hat-trick, although Commanche Falls is looking to complete a similar feat and is available at 15/2. With 24 runners set to go to post however, this may not be an easy puzzle to solve.
Gowran Park stages an eight-race card from 13:35 through to 17:35, with extra places being paid in the third, fourth, sixth and seventh races, while Catterick will host seven races from 14:25 through to 17:45, with four places being paid out in the finale.
And last but not least, Wolverhampton takes us through the evening with eight races from 16:55 until 20:30. Betfred are offering a promotion in every single race on the card, with stakes refunded as a free bet up to £10 if a backed horse finishes second by a neck or less.
