Lou Macari might be joking, but he’s left us all guessing about whether he’s off somewhere iconic next week with Stormzy!

He met up with the rapper, along with fellow Manchester United legends Bryan Robson, Gary Pallister, and Arthur Albiston (see our YouTube interview, below). And whilst chuckling away on Betfred TV about potentially being part of a newly-formed boy band, he revealed with a twinkle on his eye that he might just be off to the Big Apple.

The former Scottish international, pictured above in his Old Trafford heyday, spoke at length about another superstar …… this time arguably the world’s greatest footballer Cristiano Ronaldo (pictured below). Macari said the atmosphere at Old Trafford for the Newcastle triumph which marked Ronaldo’s return was “the best I’ve known,” proving what an absolutely exceptional player the Portuguese phenomenon is.

He revealed in an searching interview that he wasn’t sure about Ronaldo when he first saw him at United in 2003, but was convinced by both the then-teenager’s willingness to learn, and the extra training stints he put in.

Macari waxed lyrical about his opening goal against the Magpies ….. moving with intent to anticipate the away keeper spilling Mason Greenwood’s shot, just before the half time break. “He was crafty, desperate to score. He will turn close games¬† into winning games. If it was not for him we wouldn’t have won against Newcastle.”

And Macari’s verdict on Ronaldo’s hard-fought successes, setting a priceless example to teammates? “He deserves everything he has got.” Lou expects that the Reds will put the Champions League horror show in Switzerland behind them and win at West Ham – a club he used to manage of course.

He also predicts a win, but not by five, for Premier League champions Manchester City against Southampton; Burnley who take on Arsenal; Liverpool, Chelsea, Leicester – and predicted a draw between Villa and Everton.

As an ace striker in his pomp, Macari can see a marked improvement in Romelu Lukaku since his United days.
“Very clinical” is Macari’s view, who believes the Belgian will be a main contender to be the Premier League top scorer. Take a look at the full interview, above – and have a fabulous weekend of football.
