British teenage sensation Emma Raducanu has been slashed into 7/1 at Betfred to be named BBC Sports Personality of the Year after her impressive performances at the US Open.

The 18-year-old was propelled into the spotlight earlier this year after being handed a wildcard entry into Wimbledon – where she reached the Last 16 – and now she’s reached her first ever Grand Slam quarter-final.

Raducanu (15/2 to win the US Open) faces Olympic champion Belinda Bencic in their quarter-final tie on Friday evening and is 6/5 at Betfred to book her place in the semis.

She has enjoyed a meteoric rise this year, and further success in the States will likely see her cut even shorter to be crowned 2021 SPOTY.

There’s stiff competition for the prestigious award this year, however, with gold medal-winning Olympic diver Tom Daley the 6/4 favourite.

Track cyclist Jason Kenny, Britain’s most decorated Olympian of all time after winning yet another gold medal at Tokyo 2020, is 9/2 second-favourite – while Adam Peaty, another Olympic winner who is due to appear on BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing later this month, is 11/2.

Of those at a greater price, Lewis Hamilton is 10/1 – odds which would inevitably crash should he win another Formula One Championship to become the most successful F1 driver of all time.

Meanwhile, Laura Kenny is a 12/1 shot ahead of Mark Cavendish at 16/1 – and it’s 20/1 bar.
