Fabinho says he “is hungry to win more trophies” with Liverpool (5/1 – To win Premier League) after putting pen to paper on a contract extension that ties him to the Reds until the summer of 2026.
The Brazil international has enjoyed plenty of success since arriving at Anfield from Monaco in 2018, helping Liverpool to three major honours, including the Champions League in 2019, as well as the club’s previously elusive first Premier League title the following year.
In total, the 27-year-old has made 122 appearances for Jurgen Klopp’s side, scoring three goals, and he says it was an easy decision to extend his stay on Merseyside.
“I’m delighted to have signed a new contract with the club,” Fabinho told Liverpoolfc.com. “Since the beginning of the conversation, I was really positive about it because it’s what I wanted – staying in this club, keep playing for Liverpool. Now this is official and I’m really happy.”
Despite enjoying plenty of success during his time with Liverpool, Fabinho was not able to help the Reds lift any major honours last term, but he is confident he and the rest of the squad can put that right this season.
“We know with these players we can go really far in all the competitions,” the versatile midfielder added.
“In the last year we didn’t win any trophies, so I think everyone is hungry to win more trophies, win more things, to keep our fans happy. Hopefully we will do this this season.”
Liverpool’s opening match of the new Premier League campaign will come when they take on newly-promoted Norwich at Carrow Road on August 14 (Norwich 15/2, Draw 9/2, Liverpool 2/7 – Match Result), while they will also face home games against Burnley and Chelsea before the month is out.
