New Tottenham Hotspur (40/1 – Premier League Outright) boss Nuno Espirito Santo has added a second reinforcement to his squad ahead of the new Premier League season, after Bryan Gil’s switch from Sevilla, which sees Erik Lamela head in the opposite direction, was confirmed.
Spurs recently acquired the services of goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini on a season-long loan from Atalanta and the Lilywhites have now moved quickly to bring in their second new signing of the summer window.
Talented winger Gil, who has three caps for Spain, arrives from La Liga outfit Sevilla for a reported £22.5million and has signed a contract running until the summer of 2026.
Argentine Lamela has moved in the opposite direction as part of the deal, ending his eight-year stay in North London where he failed to win any silverware and he will be hoping for greater success over in Spain.
Gil, who is just 20 years old, spent last season on loan at Eibar, where he made 29 appearances, including 26 La Liga starts. He found the back of the net four times and will aiming to improve on that record at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Having added two new faces to his squad, Nuno is said to be upping the ante in the pursuit of Atalanta centre-back Cristian Romero, who has been linked with a move throughout the transfer window.
Spurs are claimed to have made an offer of at least £34m plus £8.5m in bonuses, but they are still waiting to hear back from the Italian side and attentions could be switched to other targets if a decision isn’t made soon.
Spurs get their Premier League campaign started with a home clash against defending champions Manchester City, who are 4/6 favourites to retain their crown, on August 15th.
