Oval Invincibles will hope to make it back-to-back victories when they head to Lord’s to take on London Spirit in the first of two fixtures in The Hundred on Sunday (Match betting – London Spirit 10/11, Oval Invincibles 10/11).

Invincibles had the privilege of raising the curtain in the men’s competition and they followed in the footsteps of their female counterparts by picking up a win over Manchester Originals.

Despite being limited to 145, Invincibles impressed with the ball and they restricted the Originals to 136 to seal a nine-run triumph.

The Curran brothers, Sam and Tom, were key to keeping their opponents on the back foot, while Nathan Sowter also claimed two wickets.

The Spirit, meanwhile, lost by three wickets against Birmingham Phoenix at Edgbaston in their opening game of The Hundred campaign, but they now face a run of four successive home fixtures.

They kick off that sequence of matches against the Invincibles at 14:30 on Sunday, before fans can tune into the clash between the Originals and the Phoenix at 18:00 (Match betting – Manchester Originals 4/5, Birmingham Phoenix Evens).

Originals captain Joe Buttler admitted that it has been a “bit of a challenge” trying to get ready for the inaugural season of The Hundred due to injuries, but feels they have room for improvement.

Head coach Simon Katich had to deploy some youngsters against Invincibles at The Oval and Buttler feels that experience will stand them in good stead.

Buttler told Sky Sports: “A lot of young guys in our team will take a lot from playing in an environment like this against quality opposition.”
