Assistant coach Mark Dunning believes Bradford Bulls have a “huge opportunity” to land a first defeat of the season on Championship rivals Featherstone Rovers on Sunday (Match betting – Bradford 3/1, draw 25/1, Featherstone 1/4).
It’s a busy day in the Championship with five matches scheduled, but it’s the meeting between Bradford and Featherstone, who sit third and second respectively, that stands out.
Fresh from winning the 1895 Cup at Wembley, Featherstone return to action in the league as they attempt to extend their unbeaten record to 13.
However, a trip to Odsal Stadium is set to put their fine form to the test and Dunning insists the squad are raring to go.
Dunning told Bulls’ official website: “The lads have come back really energised and they look up for this weekend’s game, it’s a real opportunity for us.
“We’re not expecting a cup hangover, we know it’s a massive task for us but we’re up for it and we know what we can do.”
Sheffield Eagles host Halifax Panthers to get Sunday’s fixtures under way at 12:30, with the visitors sitting fourth after winning six in a row (Match betting – Sheffield 10/3, draw 22/1, Halifax 2/9).
Meanwhile, seventh-placed Newcastle Thunder will look to close the gap on Batley Bulldogs in sixth when they travel to West Yorkshire (Match betting – Batley 2/7, draw 20/1, Newcastle 11/4).
There’s also plenty on the line at the bottom end of the table with Oldham Roughyheds, who are 13th after winning just two of their 12 outings, head to Whitehaven (Match betting – Whitehaven 1/5, draw 22/1, Oldham 7/2).
York City Knights have tasted victory only four times from 13 assignments this term, but they could pick up a much-needed win when rock-bottom Swinton Lions head to the York Community Stadium (Match betting – York 1/7, draw 22/1, Swinton 5/1).
