It’s game on in the NBA Finals after Milwaukee Bucks collected their first win of the series thanks to a masterclass from Giannis Antetokounmpo.
Having slipped to defeat to the Phoenix Suns in the first two games, it was essential that the Bucks bounced back on their home court.
Naturally the Milwaukee faithful were looking to their main man to deliver and he didn’t let them down, with Giannis scoring 41 points as the Bucks (9/2 – to win the series 4-3) claimed a 120-100 victory.
Not only did the ‘Greek Freak’ blitz the bucket on Sunday night, but he also chipped in with 13 rebounds and six assists, highlighting that he is now fully over his recently knee problem.
No Suns player scored more than 19 points on the night and will now have to re-group ahead of Game Four (Money Line – Bucks 8/15, Suns 6/4), which takes place at the Fiserv Forum in the early hours of Thursday morning.
Giannis was philosophical when speaking to the media afterwards, saying: “I don’t worry about the outcome as much as I want to enjoy the game.
“I want my team-mates to enjoy the game, and I know that by enjoying the game I’m going to compete as hard as possible and I’m going to do the right thing to help my team be in the right position and have the opportunity to win any game we play.”
Milwaukee, who are now 2/1 to win the 2021 NBA Championship, will look to draw on experience from earlier on in this season’s play-offs to inspire them to a Finals comeback.
Mike Budenholzer’s men were 2-0 down and then 3-2 behind to the Brooklyn Nets, before they progressed after a dramatic victory in Game Seven.
