Manchester City (4/6 Fav – Premier League 2021-22 Outright) forward Raheem Sterling has said he’s looking to earn more game time with the Premier League champions next season.
Sterling helped City win the Premier League title comfortably under boss Pep Guardiola this year, but the England international did see his minutes on the field tail off in the second half of the campaign.
A combination of inconsistent form and the rise of City starlet Phil Foden meant the former Liverpool star spent more time off the pitch than he would have liked.
Sterling, who is currently with the Three Lions squad at Euro 2020, has spoken of what is important for him and feels he would be happier with more starts at the Etihad Stadium next season.
“Just being happy, enjoying my football and that is what I am doing being here with the national team,” Sterling told reporters.
“If you’re not playing, you’re not happy. That’s me, that’s been me since I was a kid.
“If I’m playing football I am really happy, if I’m not I’m not happy.”
For the moment Sterling’s focus will be on England’s next outing at Euro 2020, as Gareth Southgate’s side prepare to host the Czech Republic on Tuesday (Czech Republic 7/1, Draw 11/4, England 8/15 – Match Betting).
Going into the clash at Wembley, Sterling is England’s only goalscorer at the tournament, bagging the decisive goal in a 1-0 win over Croatia, before a goalless stalemate against rivals Scotland.
