If United are able to keep Edinson Cavani at the club for another year then I reckon us Reds have a cracking chance of winning the Premier League, or at least giving City a good run for their money, next season.
If you did a straw poll of the world’s top centre forwards, I bet Cavani, with his outstanding movement and instincts, would be right up there with the likes of Harry Kane and Erling Haaland.
I’m not saying Ole Gunnar Solskjaer shouldn’t splash the cash this summer, as he most certainly need to in order to be competing at the very top where we belong, but it will only be positive if Cavani does stay at Old Trafford.
At 34 years of age, he wouldn’t be expected to play every week – but he could do as Eric Cantona did and help all those emerging young talents we have at the club.
I’m hoping he starts again tomorrow when we finish the job against Roma to earn our place in the Europa League final in Gdansk on May 26.
Roma, having lost 6-2 to us in the first leg of the semi-final last week, are of course the massive outsiders at 150/1.
Meanwhile, my congratulations go out to a hard-working health worker from across the Pennines in Bradford who has picked my pocket to the tune of £12,000 after predicting that both teams would score in TEN games at the weekend.
It’s the third time he’s won big from me this year using our popular Goals Galore coupon, and the 28-year-old is going to use the money to pay for his wedding reception.
